JoJo Siwa is listed on Time’s ‘the 100 most influential people of 2020’. With nearly 36 million followers on TikTok, JoJo Siwa recently posted a video to TikTok miming along to Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’, in particular the lyrics relating to being LGBTQ+.
“baby you were born this way. No matter gay, straight, or bi, lesbian, transgendered life, I’m on the right track baby, I was born to survive.”
Jojo also wore rainbow themed merch and scrunchy but it wasn’t officially a coming out message until she took to twitter.
JoJo tweeted on 22nd January 2021 wearing a gay themed t-shirt that reads ‘best. gay. cousin. ever’ to announce that she is indeed LGBTQ+!

This is a brave move for former ‘Dance Mom’ star whose audience is mainly young children and she has been praised by many, with her tweeting amassing over 1 million likes so far. Even Ellen DeGeneres sent JoJo a heart.

JoJo went live on her instagram, with over 10 million followers, and posted the video onto her feed entitled ‘happy girl’. JoJo told her followers:
“I’ve got the most endless amount of love and support… I’m really, really, really, happy. Now that the world gets to see this side of my life, it makes me really, really happy. I’ve been happy in this land for a minute now, and now that I get to share that with the world, it’s awesome!”
JoJo spoke about the amazing response that she has had to coming out: “literally there are so many people in the world who are so supportive, so accepting, so loving, so awesome!… personally I have never, ever been this happy before.”
In the live JoJo was asked what ‘label’ she identifies as, and even though she came out with a gay message on a t-shirt, she said she wants to keep that private.
JoJo discussed how coming out is easy for some and hard for others and believes it’s no longer scary to come out anymore. “It’s ok to be different…” She also hinted at having a partner: “I think in life you know when you meet your person…”
When asked how her parent’s reacted, JoJo said that her dad said “hey man, love is universal.” Her mom said she’s known for the last 2 years that JoJo doesn’t only like boys.
JoJo ended her video with these words of wisdom:
