The Prom based in a Broadway musical and yes the film is a musical too. It’s about a high school girl Emma Nolan played by Jo Ellen Pellman who wants to bring her girlfriend Alyssa, played by Ariana DeBose to the prom but is banned by the Head if PTA (played by Kerry Washington)… and here’s the kicker – it’s Alyssa’s mom!
Hearing about this injustice, a group theatre stars (Meryl Streep, Nicole Kidman, James Corden and Andrew Rannells) go to a small conservative Indiana town to try save the day – or at least Prom! Brought to you by none other than Ryan Murphy.
We can’t quite believe it either, but this is the 3rd lesbian mainstream movie within one month to be released (it’s like buses). Certainly not complaining, YAS to lesbian visibility and representation! Who’s going to be watching ASAP? Let us know your thoughts.
